People come up and tell us how you received us with open arms, how you deserted the dead
idols of your old life so you could embrace and serve God, the true God.  1 Thessalonians 1:9

People take notice to radical transformation.  One reason people may not be noticing Christ in you, is because there may be a lack of noticeable change.  Too often, “Christ-followers” don’t follow Christ closely, we dabble in Christ, then later dabble in the “dead idols” of the world.  We cling to the comfort of those things that were in our life before Christ.  We continue worshiping ourselves, others, jobs, ideas, instead of the One who deserves true and authentic Worship. 

Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks. God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in spirit and in truth.”   John 4:23-24

It’s time for us to true worshipers, authentic worshipers.  As we begin to live to bring glory and honor to God in everything we do, others will begin to really take notice of Christ in us.

LOVE GOD, LOVE PEOPLE

I’m reading back through a study on King David and this morning am reminded that God made me uniquely to be me.  That my gifts and talents are not like those of Pastor Ed Young Jr., the Bishop T.D. Jakes, or my friend Pastor David Hughes. (all guys that I admire and learn from)  I’m Matt Boone.  Grew up in a town of less than 1500, graduated High School with a class of 36 friends, and was parented by an amazing father and mother that loved and supported even when (I or they) didn’t always get everything right.  I’m one of the many sons of our Great Father in Heaven, saved by the grace of Christ Jesus.  I’m Matt Boone, designed and created by God and for God.

Psalm 139:14 I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.

The young soon to be King David, was not Saul.  In 1 Samuel 17:38-19, David comes to terms with this when King Saul tries to dress David for battle in his kingly armor.  David’s basically says that this is not me, give me my shepherd slingshot and point in the direction of the giant.

Do You ever find yourself trying to be someone you are not?  Someone you admire?
Do you every struggle not living up to that personality?

Well stop it!!!  God made them to be them, to accomplish what He wants to for His glory.
He made you to be you to accomplish what He wants to for His glory.

By verses 45-47 David is letting Goliath know that he was showing up in the name of the Lord of Hosts, the God of the armies of Israel.

David knew that he was created by God and for God.

God created you to be you.  Be You for HIM!

The Fan

Let’s face it, some FANS are just plain crazy. From dressing up in full costume, to painting the name of their favorite team across their bare chest, FANS embody what true passion and loyalty are all about. In fact, it’s part of God’s plan for man to be a fan.  During this series, you will be challenged to live a life of passion and loyalty to your King.

Living in South Florida the thought of encountering a Hurricane is real, and although I haven’t experienced one, we do take precautions to lessen the blow in case one does hit.  Whether, living in South Florida or not, we experience life hurricanes from time to time.  Those moment in life when out of nowhere tragedy strikes, or your life savings is sunk, or the plans for your life implode. 

This album is really a great connection those emotions.

Your Thanksgiving Inventory

Cork Hope is created by one of my students/friends who left for college, but still wants to be connected to friends who have moved all over.  He says that cork hope is really about three things:

Faith–in yourself and in a God who loves you more than you could ever imagine.

Hope–in things unseen, and in that, though everything may seem dark right now, a brighter day is coming.

And love–for God, others, and yourself.

These three things remain after everything else fades away.

With all the negativity that surrounds us in the world, why not be different? Why not be a light? Why not be the faithful, the hopeful, the lovers?

⁸Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.

So I’ll post these things on to my cork boards in my dorm room. Cork is my portal back home, and back to my friends spread all across Florida. Through it, I see them face to face every day; their pictures hang like flowers in spring.

When to get my hair cut.  Didn’t turn out like I had hoped. Planned on shaving it all off.  Summer, my beautiful bride likes it, and wants me to keep it. Others have shown mixed emotions.  Everything from… FREAK to i likie.  So I want to know what you think.

1.  Should I keep It.
2.  Should I shave it short.
3.  Blue streak. (not happening by the way)
4.  Maybe you have a better solution.

So here I am trying to make myself leave the office.  I’m so tired, and I know there’s so much to do.  It’s been a GREAT week!  Stinking Busy, on top of all the stuff we do every week, here we are in November trying to pump out some important details, and I mean a ton of details for camp.  But one thing I’ve begun to realize is that often the new growth we see today, comes from the tons of work (blood, sweat, and tears) that we’ve put into our ministry the weeks and even months before.
